Downpipes

A downpipe, also sometimes referred to as test pipe, is a short piece of exhaust pipe that's designed to replace the upper section of the Scion tC's exhaust system after the headers. Sometimes they replace the catalytic converter, in which case they are called test pipes. Test pipes are illegal and you can be fined heavily if you're caught with them on your vehicle.

Headers

Exhaust headers are often an overlooked upgrade for the Scion tC. Many owners are quick to purchase a cat-back or axle-back exhaust system to change the exhaust note and free up some horsepower, but few actually enjoy the benefits of a full engine-back exhaust package. Header design theory is very complex, but in the most basic form you should look for equal length tubing with a clean collector. There are significant power gains to be found by upgrading the OEM exhaust manifold to a well designed aftermarket header solution.

Axle Back Exhaust Systems
