How To:Sway Bar Installation (tC)
From SCION-TECH : The Scion Resource : tC, xA, xB, xD
This tutorial will guide you through the installation of rear sway bars on your Scion tC. Original Scion tutorial by Alex8181 from club-tc.com. He rates this installation diffuculty as a medium (2/5) and that it should take around 10 hour to complete.
Many if not most of the other brands will install in exactly the same way. So read this tutorial and save some money by working on your own Scion tC.
Adding on an performance sway bar is an easy and effective way to decrease the body roll on your car. Matched with a good spring and shock combo will give you a very tight handling car. The most preferable time to change your swaybar is when you are upgrading your shocks and springs since they are out of the way. If not it will take some patience to take the old swaybar out and put in the new swaybar.

[edit] Rear Sway Bar Install
The first step you need to do is put your Scion tC on jack stands and remove the rear wheels. With the rear wheels removed, unbolt the rear end links from the sway bar ends.
If you remove the bracket that holds the flex hose in place you will have better access to the rear sway bar.
Next remove the bolts holding the sway bar brackets onto the chassis.
Wiggle the sway bar until you can remove it completely from the car. This will ctake some patience and creativity but it is not too difficult. Grease the rubber bushing and brackets that should be supplied with your sway bar. Attach the bushings/brackets to the sway bar. The picture below shows you the difference in thickness between the stock and TRD bar.
Now you need to wiggle the new sway bar into place. Be careful putting it in, you don't want to scratch the paint off of the bar. Bolt the brackets back in first and torque them to the Scion service manual's specs which is 26 ft-lbs (foot pounds). Then bolt the end links back onto the ends of the sway bar and again torque per the Scion manual to 32 ft. lbs. Also notice that the TRD sway bar has two holes to connect the end links to. The outer one is for a "street" setup while the inner is for a "race" setting. Try out both settings to see which suits you best.
