[edit] PA002-02 PAINT STAINS UNDER RAPGUARD

Download The Full TSB

10/17/2005 - 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 model year Toyota vehicles, all models; 2004, 2005, 2006 model year Scion vehicles, all models. On some vehicles, when Rapgard is removed, the paint may have a stained appearance. These stains appear to be under the clear coat and should not be considered a defect in the paint (clear coat or color coat). The stain patterns are usually under wrinkles in the Rapgard. These wrinkles sometimes trap water and cause the paint to stain from the trapped moisture, especially on horizontal surfaces, such as the hood, roof, and trunk. Stains can be removed by heating the stained surface to remove the trapped moisture.

[edit] PD039-06 2007 MY SCION TC PRE-DELIVERY SERVICE (PDS)

Download The Full TSB

6/13/2006 - 2007 model year Scion tC vehicles.

Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) is a critical step in satisfying your dealership’s new car customers. Customer feedback indicates the following areas deserve special attention when performing PDS:

  • Careful inspection for paint chips/scratches and body dents/dings.
  • Proper operation of electrical accessories (including interior light, clock, and radio reset).
  • Interior cleanliness.
  • Proper function of mechanical systems.

Customer retention and proper maintenance of vehicles has been a major focus for Toyota. To help remind customers that regular oil changes are essential to the proper maintenance of their vehicle, dealers are required to begin installing a first oil change reminder sticker prior to delivery. By doing this, customers will be reminded to return to your dealership for their first oil change. Your current oil change reminder sticker may be used. (See PDS Check Sheet item G08.)

A new PDS Check Sheet has been developed for the 2007 model year Scion tC. Some check points have been added, expanded or clarified. TSBs are available for items in bold red type

[edit] PD007-04 INITIALIZATION OF TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM

Download The Full TSB

11/3/2004 - 2005 model year Scion tC vehicles. While the vehicle is in motion, the Tire Pressure Warning System (TPWS) monitors the wheel speed signals that are output by the speed sensors for the brake control system. The system uses the resonance frequency method and the relative wheel speed method to detect low tire pressure in one or more of the tires. The resonance frequency method detects a change in the resonance of the tires that is caused by a low tire pressure based on the total value of the wheel speed signals that are output by the four speed sensors. The relative wheel speed method utilizes the changes in the wheel speeds that occur when the actual radius of a tire decreases due to a low tire pressure. These two methods refer to the normal tire pressure as the standard value when initializing.

To operate the Tire Pressure Warning System under normal conditions, the TPWS ECU must be initialized with the tires at the specified tire inflation pressure. Tire pressure is set high at the assembly plant for transport and storage to prevent tire flat spots. Therefore, after adjusting all the tires to the standard air pressure, please perform initialization of the TPWS ECU at your dealership prior to delivery.

[edit] PG011-05 FUEL INJECTOR CLEANING

Download The Full TSB

6/9/2006 - All 1990 – 2006 Toyota and Scion models equipped with Port Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI).

[edit] PG002-05 TIRE POSITIONING BEFORE NEW VEHICLE DELIVERY

Download The Full TSB

5/26/2006 - All 2005 – 2007 model year Toyota and Scion vehicles.

During the manufacturing process, tire characteristics are measured. Tires are then mounted on the vehicle as matched sets to help reduce conditions such as pulling or drifting. If the wheels are replaced or refinished before vehicle delivery, it is important that the tires remain on the vehicle in the same location and in the same direction of rotation.

Please refer to the following procedure to ensure that the original tires stay in the same location on the vehicle.

[edit] PG001-06 BATTERY MAINTENANCE FOR IN-STOCK VEHICLES & PRE-DELIVERY

Download The Full TSB

1/26/2006 - All Scion and Toyota models and model years through current.

A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life.

As a matter of policy, Toyota does not provide battery warranty coverage for discharged and/or failed batteries due to lack of maintenance. It is the dealer’s responsibility to maintain the specified State of Charge (SOC) of the vehicle’s battery while in stock and assure proper State of Charge (SOC) at delivery.

To eliminate customer service concerns due to an undercharged battery during the first few weeks of ownership, all dealers should check battery State of Charge (SOC) and recharge, if necessary, just prior to delivery (i.e., within 48 hours of delivery).

The information contained in this TSB supercedes TSB No. PG017–02. TSB No. PG017–02 is now obsolete and should be discarded.

[edit] PG005-04 TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM INFORMATION AND RE-INITIALIZATION

Download The Full TSB

7/25/2005 - 2004, 2005 Toyota Highlander, RAV4, Sienna, & Solara, 2005 Scion tC. This service bulletin provides the proper procedures for normal maintenance re-initialization of the indirect Tire Pressure Warning System (TPWS). When performing service that requires tire rotation or tire replacement, suspension component replacement or alignments, the Tire Pressure Warning System must be re-initialized. During initialization, the Tire Pressure Warning System, located within the ABS or Skid Control ECU, learns the tire sizes from rotational speeds and resonance frequencies. Once the system has initialized, if tire pressures drop, the TPWS light will illuminate. If the initialization of the Tire Pressure Warning System is not conducted correctly, the low tire message indicator on the combination meter display may illuminate without a noticeable change in tire pressure. Always initialize the system using the procedures listed in this TSB.
